As the former City Attorney for Traverse City, Lauren brings a strong resume to Alward Fisher, along with years of legal knowledge and a wealth of valuable experience. We are honored to have her on the team!
Education and Early Legal Career
Lauren earned her Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from Kalamazoo College in 2002. Before going to law school, she studied law, constitutional law, and German at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Bonn, Germany, as a Kalamazoo College Fellow. She went on to earn her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Wayne State University Law School in 2008 after serving as a judicial intern to U.S. District Judge Gerald E. Rosen in the Eastern District of Michigan. She was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan that same year.
After law school, Lauren was an associate attorney with Jon H. Kingsepp PLLC, where she served as Assistant City Attorney for the City of Clawson. In this role, she represented municipal and private clients in litigation, contract negotiations, and labor matters.
City Attorney for Traverse City
Before joining Alward Fisher, Lauren served as City Attorney for the City of Traverse City for 15 years (2011-2026). In her role as the City’s in-house general counsel, she advised municipal departments, City officials, and the City commission on a broad range of operational, governmental, and legal matters. These matters encompassed property transactions, development agreements, ordinance drafting and enforcement, labor and employment matters, municipal governance, zoning and land use, contracts, and litigation. Lauren’s tenure at the City demonstrates her dedication to public service, providing exceptional legal services and outstanding work ethic.
