BarnPilot’s current monitoring experience begins with Camera Focus, a dedicated view for supported fixed barn cameras. An owner can look in live, see camera and monitoring status, connect horses to the appropriate view, and review alerts without leaving the same platform that holds the horse’s schedule and records.

Watcher provides the ongoing layer. Equine Watcher is designed for horse-specific awareness, while Farm Watch provides broader awareness of clearly visible people, vehicles, animals, and packages. Sentinel was developed for the moments when one particular concern deserves heightened attention. The user chooses a camera, describes the situation, and writes one exact visible condition or behavior to monitor. That instruction becomes the “Law of the Sentinel” for a 24-hour session. If supported camera imagery visibly matches the instruction, BarnPilot can alert the user to look in and decide what to do next.

“Watcher is the ongoing watch; Sentinel is the focused watch,” Morvay said. “With Sentinel, the owner defines the condition that matters in their own words. The system is not asked to make a medical judgment. It is asked to help watch for something specific and visible.”

BarnPilot evaluates motion-triggered still images rather than recording continuous cloud video. Its monitoring features are informational: they do not diagnose colic, illness, injury, pain, or labor; predict foaling; guarantee detection; or replace in-person observation, emergency response, barn staff, or veterinary care. Lighting, camera position, obstructions, power, and network conditions can all affect visibility.

The Monitoring Layer Is Part of a Larger Equestrian Platform

The significance of Watcher and Sentinel is not only what happens inside the camera view. It is where those systems live. BarnPilot connects monitoring to an equestrian platform that already spans much of the rider’s and horse owner’s day.

Horse-centered records bring together health information, nutrition, schedules, shows, tack, documents, photos, and ride history. Ride Journal includes GPS tracked rides and Loop Back to help riders retrace a recorded route. BarnPilot Navigator adds horse-specific navigation for reviewed trails and, where coverage is available, show rings, warm-up rings, arenas, barns, gates, trailheads, parking, and other equestrian destinations.
